Aerosmith 'inspired new Manics album'
Aerosmith were one of the key inspirations behind the up-coming new album by the Manic Street Preachers, it has been revealed.
The Manics' Nicky Wire has explained how their eagerly anticipated follow-up to 2009's Journal for Plague Lovers takes several cues from the legendary US rock band.
Speaking to XFM, the bassist said that they are currently following the same path that Aerosmith took in the eighties with their huge comeback records Permanent Vacation and Pump.
"It's going to be an amazing album," he said. "[Previous Manics album] Send Away the Tigers was Permanent Vacation, this next one is our Pump."
The Welsh rock band are currently putting the finishing touches on what will be their tenth studio album. Over the last two decades, they have taken the trademark sound of their early years in a number of new directions.
Meanwhile, Aerosmith are currently touring South America in anticipation for their hugely anticipated UK and European tour, which will take in the Download Festival on June 13th and the O2 Arena in London on June 15th.
