Alonso keeping feet on the ground ahead of pivotal Brazilian Grand Prix

Alonso will be racing in the Brazilian Grand Prix this weekend

Fernando Alonso has said he and his team must keep their feet on the ground as this year's F1 title race reaches its climax.

Ferrari driver Alonso is currently leading the drivers' championship by 11 points from Red Bull's Mark Webber with just two races to go.

This weekend sees the Formula One season head to Sao Paulo for the Brazilian Grand Prix - where Alonso secured both his previous titles in 2005 and 2006.

However, the Spaniard has said he is not getting carried away thinking about the title, despite it being possible that he could claim the championship on Sunday.

"I don't want to think about the chances of history repeating itself for a third time: I know it is theoretically possible, but that does not count for me," he said.

"We want to tackle this Grand Prix in the same way as all the others, concentrating on ourselves with our feet on the ground, trying to do a good job, without making mistakes and with the aim of beating our rivals."

The Brazilian Grand Prix at the Interlagos circuit in Sao Paulo gets underway on Sunday, November 7th.
