Alonso 'ready for the challenge' of Barcelona
Ferrari driver Fernando Alonso is looking forward to performing in front of the home crowd at the upcoming Spanish Grand Prix.
The Formula One ace has declared that he is confident of finishing towards the front in Barcelona.
He told ferrari.com: "Barcelona is always a very special race for me. I will try to make everyone happy in Spain. I know people will expect a lot from us but I think we are ready for the challenge and in Barcelona we should be very competitive," Reuters reports.
Alonso added that the key to winning on the Circuit de Catalunya was to start at the front of the grid and so the team will set up with a view to securing pole position in qualifying.
Double world champion Alonso currently sits third in the drivers' championship with 49 points, 11 behind leader Jenson Button.
Qualifying for the Spanish Grand Prix begins on Saturday, May 8th, with the race taking place on the Sunday.
