American Music Award win for Green Day
Green Day have scooped the prize for Favourite Alternative Rock at this years American Music Awards (AMAs).
The band also performed the song 21 Guns at the awards, held on Sunday night (November 22nd) in Los Angeles.
The ceremony featured an array of big acts, both performing and picking up awards, leaving Green Day's Billy Joe Armstrong a little star-struck.
"When you see all the talent that's in the room like Jay-Z and Lady Gaga, it's like holy moly, these are huge people," he said.
Big winners at the awards included country artist Taylor Swift who took home five awards and Michael Jackson who won four.
Green Day turned in a stripped down version of 21 Guns for the ceremony however there was still plenty of pyrotechnics and special effects during the performance.
Last night's prize capped a successful few days for the band who last week won Best Performing Woodie at US music network MTVU's Woodie Awards.
Green Day are coming to the UK in the summer where they will play two shows; at Lancashire County Cricket Club on June 16th and Wembley Stadium on the 19th.
