Andrea Bocelli on stage-fright and looking on the bright side

The forthcoming Andrea Bocelli tour may be producing butterflies in the famous Italian's stomach, but he has told one magazine he has no interest in taking a negative perspective.

Speaking to Parade, the tenor said he still gets stage-fright before concerts, despite having been a well-known performer for years.

"It affects my heart rate," he said. "Then my hands become sweaty and cold."

For many artists, the potential for negative feedback from reviewers may be another source of anxiety before they climb on stage, but the Tuscan crooner claimed not to be overly upset about criticism "that has no reason".

"There are critics who are honest and those who are just not objective," he explained, adding that he prefers to adopt a positive outlook at all times.

Andrea Bocelli tickets for his 2012 will go on sale this Friday (December 2nd), with five UK arena shows announced for Dublin, Belfast, Birmingham, Liverpool and London in November next year.
