Arctic Monkeys await Q Awards
Sheffield rockers Arctic Monkeys will find out today if they are to be crowned the Best Act in the World Today by the Q Awards
The band, fronted by Alexa Chung's boyfriend Alex Turner, are set to play a number of dates in the UK next month, including Wembley Arena on November 17th and Birmingham NIA on November 20th.
However, tonight they will find out if they have won the prize, alongside Best Album for their latest release Humbug and Best Live Act.
For the big Best Act prize, the band face some stiff competition from the likes of Coldplay and Nashville rockers Kings of Leon.
Speaking about the Q Awards, the magazine's editor-in-chief Paul Rees said: "The nominations prove that great music continues to be made across a broad range of styles."
Other popular acts include Kasabian and Florence and the Machine who have both gained three nominations each.
