Arctic Monkeys will not 'lose sight' on their UK tour

Wednesday, 04 November 2009
Arctic Monkeys have been researching top pop acts in preperation for their arena tour.

Arctic Monkeys' Alex Turner may have cited Beyonce, Britney Spears and Kylie Minogue as the influences for his band's upcoming arena tour, but he is not letting himself get carried away.

It came as a surprise to many when the singer and guitarist told NME this week that he had never been to an arena gig until deciding recently to check out some of today's hottest acts.

While he admitted to taking cues from his pop diva counterparts on how to put on a show of that magnitude, Turner said the Arctic Monkeys faithful should not fear that the boys from Sheffield are in danger of losing touch.

The award-winning songwriter told NME that the band will not be 'going pop' on their upcoming tour, which kicks off at Liverpool's Echo Arena on November 13th.

"There's not gonna be circus performers or bass solos. Beyonce had an all-girl band and one of them was doing these daft bass solos," he said.

"No, there's not gonna be any horn sections [either]."

Arctic Monkeys will also be stopping by at the Wembley Arena in London on November 17th and Manchester's MEN Arena on 21st. Tickets for all of their UK dates are available through Viagogo.
