Big Country tour to include festival appearances
The Big Country tour of the UK will this year include appearances at three festivals in August.
On August 11th, the band will play the final evening of the Cropredy Convention in Fairport, before playing warm-ups before their slot at the Isle of Wight Festival.
The group are on the line-up at the three-day on June 23rd, supporting Labrinth, Madness, Jessie J, Tinie Tempah, Biffy Clyro and Pearl Jam.
Downton Abbey star Elizabeth McGovern will join them on the main stage after playing with her own band Sadie & The Hotheads on The Garden Stage.
The outfit's Tony Butler explained: “We had a tradition of working with great female vocalists such as Kate Bush and Eddi Reader in the past, so having the opportunity to have Elizabeth perform with us at the IOW is going to be really cool.”
Before they appear at the festival, Big Country will play three warm-up gigs as part of a series called Crossing the Solent.
These will be held in the O2 Academy in Leicester on June 20th, the O2 Academy in Oxford on the 21st of the month and The Forum in Hatfield on the 22nd.
Finally, on August 26th, the band will perform at Solfest Festival near Aspatria on the west coast of Cumbria.
Big Country tickets have been released for all festivals and gigs they have announced for this summer apart from Solfest passes, which will become available soon.
