Billie Joe taken ill as Green Day postpone concert
Green Day were due to play a concert at Melbourne's Rod Laver Arena on Tuesday night (December 15th local time) but were forced to postpone after lead singer Billie Joe Armstrong was taken ill.
The band's tour manager, Frontier Touring, said that Armstrong was suffering with suspected food poisoning.
Despite playing a three hour set at the same venue the previous night and claiming he was able to perform, doctors insisted he took the night off.
"It became apparent at 4.30pm today that he would be unable to take to the stage - particularly in light of the lengthy 2.5-3 hour show the band traditionally perform,'' Frontier said on Tuesday.
However, Armstrong recovered in time to play a rescheduled gig the following night with tickets for the original concert still valid. Anyone who was unable to attend on the new date was advised to seek a refund.
Hopefully, all members of the band will be fit and healthy when the band come to England next summer. They are due to play to large gigs, the first at Lancashire County Cricket Club on June 16th and then at Wembley Stadium on the 19th.
