Billy Connolly immortalised in Scottish mural
People struggling to get their hands on Billy Connolly tickets may not be surprised if there is great demand to see the comedian, as he is so famous a figure a mural has been created to honour him.
The artwork has been unveiled near the birthplace of the funnyman in Glasgow and was commissioned by the Sanctuary Scotland Housing Association.
It was designed by Andy Scott - whose other public sculptures include a mermaid near Cumbernauld and a horse on the M8 - and the 500 kg piece is created from around 1.5 miles of steel.
Billy Connolly said he was "happy and humbled" about the commissioning of the mural, saying his home city is very important to him even now he has travelled all over the globe.
"My heart beats to the rhythm of Glasgow - it is in my blood," he stated.
The next Billy Connolly UK tour will stop at 22 places across the country and is scheduled for January to March next year.
