Borthwick defends England tactics ahead of Six Nations clash with Scotland
England captain Steve Borthwick has hit back at suggestions by the Scotland coach Andy Robinson that his team use illegal blocking tactics.
The two sides meet in the Six Nations this weekend and a war of words has erupted between the teams as the game approaches.
Robinson, who was sacked as England coach before taking up the reigns at Scotland, has said that his former charges use illegal American Football-style blocking tactics to take out defenders.
However, Borthwick has refuted the claims, saying: "No referee has spoken to me about it. We train within the laws of the game and we play within the laws of the game."
The Saracens lock also denied that recent poor performances at Murrayfield, where England lost in 2006 and 2008, would have an impact on Saturday's (March 13th) match.
"That is all in the past. Both teams have changed from two years ago. I am thinking about this weekend, not about two years ago or four years ago," he commented.
In this weekend's other Six Nations action, Ireland play Wales at Croke Park while Italy travel to France.
