Bruce Springsteen to give keynote speech at SXSW
People waiting to get their hands on Bruce Springsteen tour tickets may be interested to know the artist will give the keynote speech at the South by Southwest Music and Media Conference and Festival (SXSW) in the US next year.
He is the latest on a list of figures with a major influence on culture who have taken the role, including Johnny Cash, Pete Townshend and Neil Young.
The singer's speech will take place at the Austin Convention Center on March 15th 2012 and the organisers said they are "thrilled" he has agreed to talk at the event.
"Springsteen's artistry has drawn worldwide acclaim and honours," SXSW stated. "His live shows are truly fervent celebrations of the communal power of music."
The festival will be held between March 13th and 18th 2012 in the Texan city, with 90 stages hosting more than 2,000 acts from over 55 different nations.
People who want to see a Bruce Springsteen concert will have the opportunity to pick up tickets to next year's UK tour from tomorrow (December 3rd).
