Buble 'not competing with Bieber' with Christmas album
Michael Buble Christmas songs are proving popular with shoppers this holiday season, but the singer has insisted he is not in competition with fellow Canadian Justin Bieber.
Buble's effort - titled Christmas - has led the Billboard 200 charts in the US for two weeks and also hit number one in the UK, while Bieber has released a 15-track collection of festive songs called Under The Mistletoe.
And Buble was quoted by Reuters as saying there is no rivalry between the two, pointing out they are collaborating on his forthcoming Christmas special, which will be broadcast in over 60 countries worldwide and will give fans waiting for another Michael Buble tour something to enjoy.
"I was so not worried about it that he's one of the guests on my Christmas special. So it's like a Canadian love fest," he remarked.
Buble's album includes a cover of Mariah Carey's All I Want For Christmas is You and he joked his version - which went to number one in the US - has proven more popular than Carey's song.
"I think her version went to number six," he remarked.
Christmas is currently number two in the UK album charts, behind Amy Winehouse's posthumous release Lioness: Hidden Treasures.
