Button backs Vettel for F1 title
Reigning world champion Jenson Button has backed Red Bull's Sebastian Vettel to lift this season's Formula One title.
Following Sunday's Japanese Grand Prix, Button and teammate Lewis Hamilton have seen their chances of taking the drivers' championship significantly reduced with the pair now 31 and 28 points adrift respectively with just three races left.
It now appears to be a two-horse race between the Red Bulls of Mark Webber, the current championship leader, and Vettel, who is 14 points behind, although Ferrari's Fernando Alonso is also in contention.
But McLaren driver Button believes the young German will have the edge over his rivals.
"Vettel has to beat Mark twice more to be on the same points," Button said. "Going into the last race with equal points I would say Vettel has the legs in qualifying and over three races would have the advantage over Mark.
"If those two cars have the advantage over everyone else, there won't be pressure on Vettel and he will do it."
The next race of the 2010 Formula One season is the Korean Grand Prix on October 24th.
