Dalai Lama tickets sell out in hours in Dundee
It took just over two hours for Dalai Lama tickets to sell out to a large queue of hopefuls in Dundee.
The passes went on sale at Caird Hall, where the spiritual leader will speak on June 22nd, on Wednesday (February 1st) and hundreds lined the streets to pick them up.
However, many were unable to get their hands on tickets, as all spaces in the venue were booked up by just after 11:00 GMT.
There could have been a lot of disappointment among the crowd, as some people turned up as early as 06:00 GMT to wait.
Dalai Lama tickets were not only being sold on the door but also online, where individuals may still have lost out as local news provider the Courier reported the website struggled to cope with demand.
Speaking to STV News, Reverend Dr Fiona Douglas, chaplain at Dundee University, for which the Buddhist leader will give the Margaret Harris Lecture on Religion, said she was not surprised so many people wanted to see him speak.
"The message that The Dalai Lama will be conveying, one of peace, love and understanding between people of all different faiths, is one that resonates with people across the world," she explained.
People may have better luck seeking tickets for Dalai Lama Manchester talks, as the spiritual leader will be on stage at the Manchester Evening News Arena on three days over June 16th, 17th and 18th.
