Damon Hill backs Jenson Button in F1 battle with teammate Hamilton
Former world champion Damon Hill has backed Jenson Button to pip his teammate and countryman Lewis Hamilton to Formula One glory this season.
The two McLaren drivers are currently locked in a battle at the top of the drivers' championship with Hamilton a slim six points ahead of Button.
But Hill thinks that the current world champion's greater experience and calmer temperament will see him win out in the end.
Speaking ahead of this weekend's British Grand Prix, Hill said: "I think he [Button] has added something to McLaren.
"They need someone like Jenson who has got a laidback but competitive and well-balanced attitude. I wouldn't be surprised if he won the title again."
Damon Hill won the Formula One world title in 1996 with Williams. He is now president of the British Racing Drivers' Club, owner of the Silverstone circuit.
The British Grand Prix at Silverstone takes place this Sunday (July 11th).
