Deep Purple tour star to front new supergroup
Those with Deep Purple tickets to their recently announced UK tour may be interested in a new heavy metal supergroup.
Deep Purple’s Ian Gillan will front WhoCares, a charity band that includes Black Sabbath’s Tony Iommi.
The group will also feature Whitesnake keyboardist Jon Lord, Iron Maiden drummer Nicko McBrain and Metallica bassist Jason Newsted.
WhoCares will release two new songs out on May 6th: Out of My Mind and Holy Water.
Proceeds will go towards the building of a music school in Gyumri, Armenia, where both Gillan and Iommi have spent a lot of time after helping in relief efforts following the earthquake that devastated the country back in 1988.
Meanwhile, Deep Purple tickets go on sale at 9am this morning (April 15th) for a recently announced UK tour.
The band will be joined by a 38-piece orchestra for a four-date tour starting at the SECC in Glasgow on November 26th.
