Easter defends 'boring' England Six Nations display
Nick Easter has defended England's pragmatic approach to their recent Six Nations encounter with Italy, despite admitting they were "boring".
Talking to the Evening Standard, the Harlequins player said that the result had to come first, even if that means sacrificing entertainment.
"It goes without saying the result is the most important thing. That's what we're in the business of winning," he told the news provider.
Easter added that the practice of kicking, which is becoming increasingly common and his often criticised has being dull, is a necessary part of the game.
"It's simply not possible to run every time you have the ball in international rugby," he said.
The England flanker also pointed out that Italy, who England struggled to beat in Rome on Sunday (February 14th), are no longer the whipping boys of the tournament.
"The days of beating Italy heavily are long gone. They're not the side they were," Easter remarked.
England's next game in the RBS Six Nations comes against Ireland on Saturday February 27th at Twickenham.
