Ed Sheeran 'happy' that Example is still Number One

Ed Sheeran is happy that Example is still number one.

Singer and songwriter Ed Sheeran is "happy" that his friend Example beat him to the number one spot in the UK singles chart this week.

It was revealed yesterday (September 4th) that Stay Awake by DJ and rapper Example was still number one, while Sheeran's second single You Need Me, I Don't Need You reached number four.

The 20-year-old told the Daily Star: "My first big tour was as Example's support act."

He also explained why he decided to release his single again on August 28th, despite the song being previously released twice on an independent record label.

Sheeran told the newspaper: "I released it again because people said it would never get played on the radio. I wanted to prove them wrong."

Fans of the singer, who originates from Suffolk, are sure to hear the single at an Ed Sheeran concert later this year.

He may also perform his debut track, The A Team, which reached number three in the UK charts after selling 580,000 copies in the first week.
