Edinburgh Military Tattoo will not perform in front of Olympic Rings

Next year's Edinburgh Military Tattoo will not be performed in front of the Olympic rings, although the Games will be held in London at the time.

This is the decision of Historic Scotland, which said the city's castle is not the best location to display the logo.

Instead, a decision will be made between officials - including representatives of the local council, the government and the London 2012 Organising Committee - as to where to put the rings.

"Following careful consideration it is clear that the proposal would not be suitable for the successful operation of Scotland's most popular heritage attraction," Historic Scotland said.

This could be a relief for some people with Edinburgh Military Tattoo tickets, who would like to see the 90-minute show in its traditional setting without the logo.

Next year's event will be held for three weeks from August 3rd and passes for the show were released today (December 1st).
