England Six Nations team to be announced
The players hitting the field for the England Scotland rugby match this weekend will be named today (February 2nd).
England coach Stuart Lancaster has narrowed down his choice of potential team members from 32 to 24, with some sportsmen from the Bath Rugby, Northampton Saints, Saracens, London Wasps and Leicester Tigers sides now out of the running.
One of the players likely to be kept in the team is Phil Dowson and this would be his first time representing his nation.
The 30-year-old plays for the Northampton Saints and has seen teammate Calum Clark removed from the list of England team members.
He is not the only new face to appear in the Six Nations Championships, as eight other people up for selection have also never played national games.
The tournament will kick off this Saturday (February 4th), with an afternoon match between France and Italy before England face Scotland in the evening.
An Ireland Wales rugby game will be held the next day at Dublin's Aviva Stadium.
