Extra trains to ensure smooth travel for Kings of Leon concert
Travel bosses are providing extra train services for those with Kings of Leon tickets to the band's upcoming gig in Sunderland.
The US rockers play in front of 55,000 fans at the city's Stadium of Light this Friday (June 17th) as part of their UK summer tour.
There will be extra and later services on the city's Metro light rail system on the evening of the concert.
Metro services will also operate later into the evening than usual, with the last train leaving for South Gosforth from the Stadium of Light at 1am.
Richard McClean, managing director of Metro operator DBTW, told the Sunderland Echo: "Knowing how busy the Metro system was during the Take That concerts, we have decided to provide additional and later trains again for the Kings of Leon concert.
"We are expecting high volumes of passengers as people choose the Metro to travel to the event."
Following their Sunderland gig, the Kings of Leon play the LCCC Old Trafford cricket ground in Manchester on June 19th.
