Ferrari hit back at Lauda comments
Formula One team Ferrari have responded fiercely to comments made by their former driver Niki Lauda.
The Austrian F1 legend had claimed that the team had been wrong to order driver Felipe Massa to allow teammate Fernando Alonso to overtake him for the lead in the recent German Grand Prix.
He also predicted that Ferrari would "get a pasting" from the World Motor Sport Council in September when they review the race.
But Ferrari have hit back at Lauda, suggesting his comments are hypocritical.
A post on the official Ferrari site claimed that a "wave of hypocrisy" had swept through the sport since the incident.
"This time, good old Niki has missed out on a fine opportunity to keep his mouth shut, given that, when he was a Scuderia driver, the supposed Ferrari driver management policy suited him perfectly," the statement read.
The next race in the current Formula One calendar is the Belgian Grand Prix, which takes place on August 29th.
