Ferrari let off the hook over team orders scandal
F1 team Ferrari have escaped further punishment for the team orders debacle that took place at the German Grand Prix in July.
The Italian outfit was under scrutiny after they ordered Felipe Massa to let teammate Fernando Alonso overtake him during the race, something which is against the sport's rules.
However, a FIA World Motor Sport Council meeting in Paris that was reviewing the case has decided not to impose punitive measures against Ferrari, other than upholding the original $100,000 fine that was imposed at the time by the race stewards and pay costs incurred by the FIA.
Furthermore, the sport's governing body has said that a review of the anti-team orders law that Ferrari contravened should be held.
"The Judging Body has also acknowledged that article 39.1 of the Sporting Regulations should be reviewed and has decided to refer this question to the Formula One Sporting Working Group," said an FIA statement.
Ferrari will now turn their attentions to the upcoming Italian Grand Prix at Monza, which takes place this Sunday, September 12th.
