First X Factor single chosen by Cowell
X Factor finalists may have their first single picked out. It is being reported that Simon Cowell has selected Miley Cyrus' hit The Climb as the Christmas X Factor single.
Each of the finalists, Olly Murs, Joe McElderry and Stacey Solomon, are expected to record the track so it is ready when the winner is announced at the end of next weekend.
The final will take place over December 12th and 13th to determine which of the three remaining contestants will record the Christmas week single, and win the coveted £1 million music contract.
The upbeat Hannah Montana song may prove a challenge for the oldest contestant, Olly, 25.
Ireland's Herald Evening newspaper reported that Olly is fearful the hit tween song will prevent him from winning the contest. The other contestant in the over-25s category, Danyl Johnson, was voted out of the contest on Sunday during the semi-finals.
Danyl is reportedly 'gutted' over missing the final but the 27-year old says he "met some best friends for life".
Next weekend's final is reported to include performances by George Michael, Coldplay and Sir Paul McCartney.
The X Factor live tour kicks in the New Year starting at the Liverpool ECHO Arena on February 16th 2010.
