Grammy nominations for Green Day
Green Day are up for three awards, including Best Rock Album, in next year's Grammies, it has been announced.
The trio have been nominated for Best Rock Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocals, Best Rock Song for their single 21 Guns and Best Rock Album for 21st Century Breakdown.
Other big winners in the nominations for the music industry's must prestigious awards include Beyonce who got ten nominations closely followed by Taylor Swift with eight.
Green Day have enjoyed great success with their eighth studio album, 21st Century Breakdown, which reached number one in both the UK and US charts and recently went platinum in the UK.
A new version of 21 Guns, the second single taken from the album, is due for global release tomorrow (December 4th). The track was re-recorded with the cast of American Idiot the musical, which is based on Green Days album of the same name.
"It's great to have something out there for people to hear who didn't get to see the show," said Green Day's Billy Joe Armstrong.
Green Day will play Wembley Stadium on June 19th 2010.
