Green Day: People can think whatever they want about us
American punk-rockers Green Day have claimed that they are unconcerned with criticism of the band.
In an interview with NME, the band said that, after 20 years in the music business, they had heard it all before.
"People can think whatever they want about us," said bassist Mike Dirnt.
"Nobody's gonna throw anything at me that's never been thrown before.
"The way I look at it is, if you don't like Green Day then you've obviously got something against rock'n'roll or you just never liked us."
Perhaps he was referring to the very same magazine's recent announcement of the nominations of its annual awards.
Green Day were included in the short list for the NME awards, but perhaps not in the way they would have liked.
The band were nominated, alongside the likes of JLS and the Jonas Brothers, for Worst Band, while their album 21st Century Breakdown is up for the Worst Album award.
However, the trio, who play Wembley Stadium on June 19th, were also nominated in the Best International Band category.
