Green Day: Rock Band announced

Green Day play Wembley Stadium on June19th

American punk-rockers Green Day are to join the likes of the Beatles by having their very own Rock Band game title.

Game maker Harmonix announced at the 2009 Spike Video Game Awards that the multi-platinum artists were collaborating on the standalone title Green Day: Rock Band.

Green Day have previously had several of their tracks made available on the hugely successful Hoarmonix title Rock Band, but the new game will be solely based around them.

Billie Joe Armstrong, Green Day's guitarist and singer, said he was excited about the new game and wanted the band's fans to be able to feel what it is like to perform on stage as Green Day.

"We've worked with the Rock Band team in the past year to enable our fans to play tracks from 21st Century Breakdown, and we're excited to now be working on a game, spanning our entire career," he said.

The game will be available in 2010 on the Xbox 360, PS3 and Nintendo Wii, but so far no exact release date has been given.

Green Day are coming to the UK in the summer where they will play two shows, the first at Lancashire County Cricket Club on June 16th and the second at Wembley Stadium on the 19th.
