Hamilton eager to extend lead at German Grand Prix

Hamilton is hoping for victory in Germany

Lewis Hamilton is hoping to extend his championship lead in front of Formula One ticket holders at this weekend's German Grand Prix.

The McLaren driver has been in good form of late, scoring two victories and two runners-up positions in the last four races.

However, despite finishing ahead of Jenson Button in five of the last six races, he finds himself leading his teammate by just 12 points in the fight for this year's title.

He is now hoping he can put some significant distance between himself and his rival by putting in a good performance this weekend at Hockenheim.

"It's strange. I've had four solid races - two wins and two second places - and yet I'm only 12 points ahead," said Hamilton.

"We'll have to see how it goes but if I can increase that gap a bit I'll certainly be happier."

The German Grand Prix at Hockenheim takes place on Sunday, July 25th.
