Holding Coldplay gig 'an honour' for Coventry venue
Next year's Coldplay tour will kick off in Coventry and local venue the Ricoh Arena thrilled to be hosting the first gig.
Marketing director at the event centre Liz Cooper noted the concert held there on May 29th will be the only one the band play in the Midlands in 2012.
She warned people the "unwavering" popularity of the outfit is likely to see a rush for Coldplay tickets when they are released.
"We are expecting the concert to be a sell-out," she said. "I would urge everyone to reserve their hospitality packages before Wednesday when this opportunity closes."
There are three different types of these bundles - gold, silver or platinum - which include extras such as meals or a stay overnight in a nearby hotel.
Ms Cooper stated this is the first time the promoter of the concert has allowed the venue to offer pre-registration of hospitality packages for fans.
The general sale of Coldplay tickets begins at 09:00 GMT this Friday (November 18th) and with the band's new album Mylo Xyloto having been in the official top ten for three weeks, they could attract a lot of attention.
