Howard Webb to referee Man Utd vs Chelsea?
World Cup final referee Howard Webb is to take control of next weekend’s Premiership decider, those with Manchester United tickets have been told.
The 39-year-old is expected to be confirmed as the referee for Man Utd’s crucial meeting with Chelsea on Sunday (May 8th), reports the Independent.
With Man Utd just three points clear of Chelsea at the top of the Premier League with three games remaining each, the encounter at Old Trafford could easily decide which club is crowned champions at the end of the season.
As such, it appears the Professional Game Match Officials body, which administers and selects referees, has appointed one of its highest regarded officials.
It comes after United manager Sir Alex Ferguson recently complained that Chelsea get more favourable decisions from referees compared to his own side.
"We're not going to get the decisions in these big games I'm afraid," Ferguson said.
"They [Chelsea] seem to be getting them. They got one to win the league at Old Trafford last season so that's a worry. We go into these kind of games worrying about these kind of things."
