India lose Gautam Gambhir for one-day games
Cricket fans with one-day internationals tickets will be able to see how India get on against England without one of their opening batsmen, after Gautam Gambhir was ruled out of the forthcoming limited-overs matches with concussion.
Gambhir sustained the injury while attempting to take a catch that would have claimed the wicket of Kevin Pietersen during the recent Test match at the Oval.
After the diagnosis of concussion, the opener was flown home to India and will take no further part in the tour.
In a statement regarding the issue, a spokesman for the visitors said: "He went to see a specialist in Manchester who advised Gautam to have complete rest.
"It was therefore decided he would be sent home and will miss the limited-overs series with England."
Batsmen Virender Sehwag and Yuvraj Singh are also missing from the squad after picking up injuries during the tour.
India and England play a Twenty20 match at Old Trafford today (August 31st) and will complete the first of five one-day internationals at Chester-le-Street in Durham on September 3rd.
