Internet to thank for Drake tour?
The upcoming Drake tour of the UK may never have happened if it was not for the rapper being discovered on the internet.
According to the star, the world wide web is to thank for his rapid rise to fame.
Speaking to Global Grind, Drake explained how he had been discovered through his MySpace profile, which earned him recognition from hip hop star Lil Wayne.
"Initially, I think I just didn't know what would happen. I was this rapper with a little bit of buzz, the internet was taking over, and I didn't know the power of the internet at that point," he told the news provider.
"There wasn't an artist that had been 100 per cent birthed from that outlet and I think to be discovered on MySpace, how I was found, and for it to somehow reach Lil Wayne's ears and for him to feel so confident about it and call me and to release a mixtape on the internet again and have a record somehow go to number one off a mixtape using the internet as a tool."
Drake begins a UK tour at the O2 Academy in Glasgow on January 4th.
