Jingle Bell Ball stars The Saturdays launch poppy appeal

The Saturdays play this year's Jingle Bell Ball

The Saturdays, who play this year's Jingle Bell Ball, have helped the Royal British Legion launch this year's poppy appeal.

This year, the appeal is to focus on raising funds for the 'Afghan generation' of British soldiers injured during service.

The launch began with a private concert by The Saturdays at Colchester Garrison for families of the soldiers from 16 Air Assault Brigade who are currently serving in Afghanistan.

The group's Mollie King said: "It's a complete honour to be asked. We always like to support the armed forces.

"They are doing such a good job, so for us to be able to help raise awareness, of course we were going to do it. We jumped at the chance."

The band are just one of many stars to be performing at this year's Jingle Bell Ball held by Capital FM.

Others confirmed for the two-day event on December 4th and 5th include JLS and Kylie Minogue.
