Joe Perry: Download Festival helped keep Aerosmith together
The lure of performing in front of thousands of ticket holders at the UK's Download Festival helped stop Aerosmith from splitting up.
Speaking to the Daily Star, guitarist Joe Perry said that, after initially quitting the band, singer Steven Tyler decided to return in order to participate in some of the massive live shows Aerosmith had lined-up.
"I guess the enormity of the shows waiting for us changed his mind," he told the news provider.
"He thought 'Download at Donington and all these massive festivals across the world? I don't wanna miss out on all of those'."
Aerosmith will join the likes of AC/DC and Rage Against the Machine in headlining this year's event, held at Donnington Park from June 11th to June 13th.
"We don't play Europe enough and people talk about Donington all over the world. It's an honour to be playing that show. All the acts are like headliners and any chance I'm gonna get to play with AC/DC again I'm gonna take," said Perry.
Aerosmith also perform at the O2 Arena in London on June 15th.
