John Lydon: Jedward are ridiculous but we need them
Former Sex Pistol and punk legend John Lydon has surprised fans by coming out in favour of X Factor sensation Jedward.
In an interview with Christian O'conell on Absolute radio, Lydon claimed that X Factor twins John and Edward Grimes served a purpose by making other artists look good.
"They are just ridiculous. But you must have as many awful acts out there as possible because that's the only way you can shine like a diamond in the mudpack. So I'm all for the competition, me," he said.
Lydon also used the interview to hit out at I'm A Celebrity contestant Katie Price who he took a dislike to after appearing with her on the show in 2004.
"Come on, fair play to her, she's done really well in her life, having done nothing. I mean, she's a coat-hanger, period, the end," he said.
Public Image Ltd, the band Lydon formed after leaving the Sex Pistols, will go on tour later this year starting at Birmingham's O2 Arena on December 15th.
X Factor fans will also get the chance to see John and Edward live, as well as the other stars from the show, when the X Factor live tour begins at the Echo Arena in Liverpool on February 15th 2010.
