John Lydon promises new PiL material
Public Image Limited will definitely record new material but only if they have the money, John Lydon has revealed.
The PiL front man made the promise on BBC Radio 6, saying that if the band made enough cash from there current tour than they would return to the studio.
"Yes, if I raise the money from this, I most definitely will [record new material]," said the former Sex Pistol.
He also revealed that a lack of record company funding had affected the band's previous recordings.
"What you've got to understand with is that every single time we recorded we only had one take, no money," he said.
Lydon even claimed that when recording 1979 album 'Metal Box' they would wait outside the studio where The Jam were recording, wait until they had left and then sneak in to record.
"We knew they'd left so we'd run in, quickly record it, and that's 'Metal Box' for you. That's basically the John Lydon approach to music wham, bam, thank you ma'am."
Public Image Limited's UK tour starts on December 15th at the 02 Academy in Birmingham.
