Johnson picks Tait for Six Nations opener

Mathew Tait has been picked to play for England against Wales

Martin Johnson has revealed who ticket holders can expect to see at England's opening Six Nations game against Wales, and one man who is relieved to have been picked is Sale's Mathew Tait.

It will be the first time the player has started for England at outside-centre since his outstanding display in the 2007 World Cup final against South Africa.

Since then, however, Tait has failed to realise his potential, and has admitted he took playing for England for granted.

He said: "It has frustrated me that I have not been able to kick on.

"I probably took it for granted at the time that I would be involved. Maybe not starting and not being involved is the kick up the backside to refocus myself. I want to nail down this position."

England's back line will include four changes from the team that disappointed in autumn tests against New Zealand, with Riki Flutey, Delon Armitage and Danny Care all coming into the side.

England play Wales at Twickenham on February 6th.
