Next year's X Factor final may be held a week earlier so that the winner will have more chance of reaching number one with their debut single.
According to the Sun, ITV are keen to avoid a similar scenario as has occurred this year.
X Factor winner Joe McElderry's single, the Climb failed to reach Christmas number one after a Facebook campaign shot Rage Against the Machine's 1992 song Killing in the Name to the top spot.
And it looks like Joe is set to miss out for another week as his own mentor Cheryl Cole's solo single Three Words looks set to beat him into second place.
A source told the newspaper: "If a show that gets 19 million viewers can't muster enough support to beat an online campaign of music snobs, then maybe there is no point aiming for a Christmas number one next year."
The stars of the X Factor will be taking part in the show's live tour which starts at Liverpool's Echo Arena on February 16th.
