Julie Andrews reveals she "dreadfully" misses singing
Julie Andrews has disclosed what ticket holders to her upcoming London performance can expect from the show.
In an interview with the Los Angeles Times, the Sound of Music star revealed that there will only be a little singing from her.
She told the news provider that, since an operation on her throat in 1997, she is only has a very limited vocal range and that she "dreadfully" misses singing.
"I go right out and say, 'You all know I have had vocal surgery and I do have about five bass notes left, so I can assure you I can still sing the hell out of Old Man River'," she said.
The first half of the show will be "all Rodgers and Hammerstein music as it is related to me, so it's footage and narration and storytelling".
In the second act, Andrews said there would be a symphonic version of Simeon's Gift, one of children's stories she has authored, for which she reads the narration.
Julie Andrews' one-off UK performance takes place at London's O2 Arena on May 8th.
