Kasabian album nominated for best of 2009 award

The album goes up against La Roux among others

Kasabian's latest musical offering has been placed on the shortlist of the iTunes Best Album of 2009.

West Ryder Pauper Lunatic Asylum will fight albums by La Roux, The Invisible, Florence & The Machine and Paolo Nutini, among others, for the prize.

Alongside best album, iTunes have also created a short list of the best songs of 2009, including Biffy Clyro's That Golden Rule and Kings of Leon's Use Somebody.

La Roux is the only artist to be nominated in both categories.

The winner of both categories is to be unveiled early in December.

Earlier this week Serge Pizzorno admitted that the band got the name of the latest album from the tail end of a documentary.

Kasabian are currently undertaking a tour of the UK to promote their latest album.

Upcoming dates include London's Wembley Arena on November 14th and 15th, Liverpool's Echo Arena on November 16th, Birmingham's NIA Academy on
November 19th and the Bournemouth International Centre on November 25th.
