Kasabian named as Mercury Prize 2012 favourites

Kasabian have been tipped as Mercury Prize winners.

Kasabian has been named as one of the favourite acts to win the Mercury Prize next year.

William Hill has published a list of early favourites for the award and has picked Noel Gallagher, Radiohead and Kasabian.

The Leicester rock band's fourth album Velociraptor has been named as the favourite to win the £20,000 prize.

Noel Gallagher's solo debut High Flying Birds is currently second favourite, while Radiohead's The King of Limbs is third.

Bands and musicians with shorter odds include Ed Sheeran, Florence + The Machine, Coldplay, Mumford & Sons, Rizzle Kicks and Example.

This year's Mercury Prize, which was announced on September 6th,, was won by PJ Harvey.

Those with Kasabian tickets for their upcoming tour in November and December could be watching future Mercury Prize winners performing live.

Earlier this week, the Shoot the Runner singers announced three more concerts that will take place in Nottingham, Glasgow and London.
