Kings of Leon abandon concert after pigeon droppings land on bassist
Ticket holders to a recent Kings of Leon gig were left disappointed after the band was forced to abandon the show because they were being defecated on by pigeons.
Just three songs into a concert in St Louis, Missouri, the US rockers fled the stage after bass player Jared Followill was hit in the mouth and face by droppings from pigeons nesting in the venue's rafters.
The band's publicist Amy Mendelsohn later explained that he had been hit by the birds' faeces a number of times during the set before the group left.
"Jared was hit several times during the first two songs. On the third song, when he was hit in the cheek and some of it landed near his mouth, they couldn't deal with it any longer," she said.
"It's not only disgusting - it's a toxic hazard. They really tried to hang in there."
UK fans of Kings of Leon will be hoping there are no such problems when the band plays this year's V Festival, which runs from August 21st to 22nd.
