Kings of Leon gig helping to put Hyde Park 'on the map'
With events such as a Kings of Leon gig, the Serpentine Sessions and the Wireless festival all taking place in this summer, Hyde Park is starting to emerge as a major venue for music lovers.
Over the next ten days, 350,000 people will flock to the London park to attend the several music events that are taking place, the Evening Standard reports.
As well as a one-off gig by the Kings of Leon next week, the likes of Stevie Wonder, Sir Paul McCartney and Pearl Jam will be playing Hyde Park as part of Hard Rock Calling over the weekend (June 26th-28th).
It is estimated that this, along with the Serpentine Sessions and the Wireless festival, will see £50 million pumped into the London economy.
Paul Latham, chief executive of Live Nation, which is promoting all the upcoming events, told the news provider:
"When tour managers and concert promoters were choosing where they wanted to play it was never a venue that was on people's minds.
"But in the last few years we've put Hyde Park on the map with bands like Red Hot Chili Peppers and Blur."
Kings of Leon perform their one-off Hyde Park show on June 30th.
