Kubica expects 'very tough battle' at Spanish GP

The Spanish GP will likely be a 'very tough battle' for Formula One drivers when it takes place on May 9th because they all know the Barcelona circuit so well.

That is according to Renault's Robert Kubica, who will be hoping to improve on last year's performance when he came 11th in Spain after qualifying in 10th.

Speaking ahead of the race, which is the first of the 2010 calendar to be taking place in Europe, he added that everyone will be well prepared.

"We are not planning to bring any huge updates, but we will keep gradually improving the car, just like we did during the first four races," he said of Renault's plans for Barcelona.

"We have to wait and see how we compare with the others; maybe the order of the teams will be quite different compared to the start of the year."

Kubica's teammate Vitaly Petrov is also looking forward to the event at a circuit he has previously only tackled in GP2 and testing.

The drivers are currently seventh and 12th in the standings respectively, with Renault sitting fifth in the constructor table.
