Laila Rouass could replace Ali Bastian on Strictly

Despite being booted off the Strictly Come Dancing last week, Laila Rouass and Anton Du Beke could make a shock return if Ali Bastian is unable to compete through injury.

The Bill star Bastian may be forced out at the semi-final stage of the competition due to an injury she sustained in rehearsals two weeks ago, the Sun reported.

A source told the newspaper: "Ali is still in pain. Because she is training so hard she hasn't had time to recuperate, so one slight slip could force her out.

"If she pulls out there will not be enough for the semi-final so Laila is still training."

This year's series of Strictly has been plagued by injuries including one to Rouass herself and most notably to athlete Jade Johnson who was forced to quit the show.

The BBC's Rick Behari said: "We have a number of contingencies in place in case anything happens to any of the remaining couples."

Strictly Come Dancing will be touring the country with next year with a live show featuring the stars and routines of this year's competition. The tour starts at Manchester's MEN Arena on January 15th.
