Leicester players scoop awards ahead of Premiership final

Two Leicester Tigers players have won prestigious awards

Leicester Tigers have been given a boost ahead of playing in front of those with Premiership final tickets this weekend after two of their players scooped end-of-season awards.

No 8 Thomas Waldrom and centre Manu Tuilagi each took home major trophies after last night's (May 25th) Rugby Players' Awards, which are voted for by their fellow professionals.

Waldrom earned the Computacenter Players' Player of the Year Award while Tuilagi was named the Norman Broadbent Young Player of the Year.

"I know it's always said, but being voted for by your fellow players really is a big deal," said Waldrom, who beat competition from Northampton winger Chris Ashton and Harlequins fly-half Nick Evans to take the prize.

"It was a total shock when I found out because there are so many fantastic players in the Premiership who could've won it. I was happy just to make the nominees list."

Leicester face Saracens in the Aviva Premiership at Twickenham on Saturday (May 28th).
