Libertines drummer says communication between the band is limited

The Libertines play Reading and Leeds this year

Gary Powell, drummer with the newly reformed The Libertines, has claimed that communication between the bands members is almost non-existent.

The group got back together earlier this year after a six year hiatus and are due to play Reading and Leeds festivals this summer.

In an interview with Rhythm magazine, Powell admitted the band do not share the same closeness they did when they first started out.

Asked if there had been much direct contact between the band, he said: "There's been none."

"Considering how we were all together when we started, us four against the world, now because everyone's got their own direction we have all of these concerns which makes it really difficult for us to communicate."

He also revealed that he is yet to revisit the Libertines' past albums ahead of rehearsals for Reading and Leeds, despite the festivals only a little over a month away.

The Libertines will share the stage with the likes of Guns 'n' Roses and Blink 182 and Reading and Leeds, which start in August 27th.
