Lionel Richie 'can't wait' for Liverpool show

Liverpool's Echo Arena is one of ten venues on the upcoming Lionel Richie tour and the singer has spoken of how excited he is to be playing in the city.

Richie will take to the stage at the arena on November 10th and he was quoted by the Liverpool Echo as saying he "loves" performing in Liverpool because of the crowd's energy.

"Boy, can you guys sing. When I play Liverpool, the crowd sing the songs louder than I do. I have never seen anything like it," he remarked.

His tenth studio album Tuskegee is due out this month and Lionel Richie tickets for the tour - which also includes shows at venues such as London's O2 Arena and the Manchester Evening News Arena - are on sale today (March 5th).

Richie said he enjoys visiting Liverpool because of the city's musical heritage, adding: "I am the biggest Beatles fan".

He noted that on his first trip, he spent time exploring where the Fab Four grew up and visited a bar they frequented.
