Love Never Dies star inspired by Phantom

Love Never Dies is the sequel to the Phantom of the Opera

Ramin Karimloo, who is starring in Andrew Lloyd Webber's eagerly anticipated forthcoming musical, Love Never Dies, was inspired to pursue a career in musical theatre after watching the Phantom of the Opera.

Love Never Dies is Lloyd Webber's sequel to Phantom and tickets for the show, which will premiere at the Adelphi theatre on Tuesday 9th March almost a quarter of a century after the original's debut, are now on sale.

Karimloo was born in Iran, but saw the Phantom of the Opera after moving to Richmond Hill in Canada and was overcome with emotion.

Speaking to The Telegraph, he said: "It was unbelievable. I remember holding back tears. From that moment, I thought that's what I am going to do. It wasn't a desperate aim. It was a fact."

The Iranian star is certainly familiar with the role of the Phantom, having played the part in the Phantom of the Opera last year, and has enjoyed the opportunity to build on his character in this role.

"This time, the Phantom is a whole decade older, he's a completely different person. He has come from darkness to light," he said to The Telegraph.
